Keith McGill brings a quick-witted, lively, intelligent
slant to comedy. While he is a black comedian, he is not of
the “def jam” variety. His humor is more of a commentary on
all facets of life, not just one sector of society.
However, Keith does offer his own insights on his
experience as a black man in America.
"African-American"
I have these politically correct friends who won’t even let
me call myself “black.” ‘Cause that’s not what we’re
calling ourselves this week. I did not get my copy of the
Negro newsletter, so I don’t know what it’s supposed to
be.... I like black –it’s short, it’s easy to spell....
When I was filling out the census in 2000, I tried to fit
“African-American” in the itty-bitty blank they give ya.
Finally I just decided to abbreviate it and put “AA.” Now
people think I’m an alcoholic.
